Why a New Website
I loved the name, A Slice of Leadership, for the site I launched about a year and a half ago. The site became a hub of leadership information and earned recognition as one of the top leadership blogs on the Internet. For the last 6 months I knew it was time to make a change. I wanted to create a site that I could talk about my services, and tie my love of climbing into my writings better. I wanted a site that I could also use to help other authors and bloggers – friendships that have developed from all around the world. This site is going to explode into many new things as I launch my 3 books on execution, which I am calling the Uber-Magnificent 2.5 Book Launch! I hope you like the format, if you have any suggestions please let me know via the contact page.
Tools
I wanted to share the tools I am using on the website, as I know many will ask me. This will expand to other personal tools and software I use, but for now it is just the basic website information.
- Theme: I am using the Genesis Framework by StudioPress. I did a lot of research on SEO friendly themes and this was the one recommended to me over and over.
- Child Theme: Out of the box the design of Genesis was not what I was envisioning and one that I could easily manage and customize myself. I wanted a child theme that was not only SEO friendly but Social Media Friendly. The best theme I could find for this purpose was the SoMo Social theme. It is built for “Social SEO.” It has built in Facebook Open Graph Integration, Facebook Insights Integration, Google Authorship Markup and it can be easily customized.
